Third Trimester Pregnancy Checklist

You're almost there, good for you!  In just a short while, your bundle will arrive, hopefully healthy and happy.  Here are some things to do during your third trimester to encourage a great pregnancy and delivery:

_____  Keep appointments with your physician.  You will probably be going about every 2 weeks now.

_____  Decide whether you are going to breastfeed, and take a breastfeeding class.

_____  Read yet another good book on pregnancy!

_____  If you haven't already, start working on your birth plan and discuss it with your physician.

_____  Tour your hospital or birth unit and ask any questions you might have.

_____  If you already have children at home, make plans for childcare during and after birth.

_____  Pack your hospital bag.

_____  Test drive the route to the hospital.

_____  Finish up the nursery.

_____  Rest, relax and don't overdo it!

_____  Discuss any additional testing with your physician.

_____  Make sure you're eating right and still drinking plenty of water.

_____  Walk and do gentle stretches daily.

_____  Familiarize yourself with the signs of labor.

_____  To reduce your risk for episiotomy or severe tears, begin perineal massage by week 36 or earlier.

_____  Stock up on dry and canned foods.

_____  Prepare meals and freeze them.

_____  Pick up diapers and wipes.

_____  Take care of baby announcements.

_____  Indulge yourself with a facial or pregnancy massage, manicure, or pedicure.

_____  Take a leisurely walk with a friend.

_____  Eat out or go to a movie or concert.
