placenta problem

hi. i had a miscarriage last week. my doctor said the problem was in my placenta, but did not explain further. she just informed us that my placenta didnt developed well to support my baby's development. i did not experience bleeding during my pregnancy, just minor cramps and lower back pains.
my baby had a heartbeat on its 6th week based on the ultrasound. after a week, the heartbeat weakened, then another week, it was gone. im currently having a series of bloodtests to determine what really caused the weakening of my baby's heartbeat.
im looking for articles or any information regarding placenta development esp during the first trimester. i really want to know what went wrong. it should have been our first baby, we've been trying to conceive for 5 years now and we're really heart broken.

Can anyone please help me in understanding about Low Lying Placenta problem which I am facing in my 15th week of Pregnancy.
I have sever cramping pain in my abdomen and lower part of my back.Sometimes in Urine few drops of blood is also passed.

It will be great if some one can give me an insightfor the precautions to be taken during this stage of my pregnancy.
